The NEAC

The NEAC (Audio Engineering and Coding Center) is a center for research, development and innovation in sound technologies, audio engineering and computer music based at the Laboratory of Integrable Systems (LSI-EPUSP) and linked to the Interdisciplinary Center in Interactive Technologies of the University of São Paulo (CITI-USP).

Since 2005 the center hosts and supports academic and industrial projects in its diversified areas of expertise, joining researchers from the University of São Paulo (USP), from other research and education institutions, and companies.

The center participates in projects with other nuclei and units from USP, such as the Laboratory of Audio and Musical Technologies (LATM) of the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH/USP), the Laboratory of Digital Art, Media and Technologies (LabArteMídia, ECA/USP), the Computer Music Group of IME/USP, the Center for Research in Sonology (NuSom), the Interactive Electronic Media Group of the Polytechnic School of USP (MEI-EPUSP), the Arts Institute of UNICAMP, as weel as runs partnerships with national and international companies.

Since 2005 has supported scientific events such as the AES Brazil Audio Engineering Conference and the SBCM (Brazilian Symposium on Computer Music) and contributed actively with the Technical Forum of SBTVD in the standadization of ISDB-T DTV system.

The NEAC is a convergent forum for interdisciplinary researchers, with collaborators from engineering, music, physics, arts and computer sciences. Its projects and developments include the AUDIENCE spatial audio system, the OpenAUDIENCE spatial audio software, and the FAPESP-supported Thematic Project MÓBILE.
